Nongfu Spring
A pop-up store for a national water brand
A pop-up store for Nongfu Spring in the sunken plaza of Shijiazhuang’s MixC, derived from the mountain silhouettes and rock pores of Changbai Mountain.
Context
The site sits at the intersection of Zhongshan Road and Zhonghua Street, connected to two metro lines and surrounded by ten shopping centres. The brief was a temporary brand space for a mass-market water brand that needed to feel premium enough for the MixC audience.
The sunken plaza is a threshold between the street, the mall and the metro. It has high footfall but little atmosphere. The project treats that gap as an opportunity.
Question
How can a national water brand become a local, spatial experience?
Response
The perimeter is drawn as a series of abstract arcs, recalling the Changbai Mountain ridge. Inside, circular display stands act as rock pores, breaking the plan into a landscape of islands. The palette is mineral and vegetal; the lighting is soft. The store is conceived as a walk-through image, not a shelf.
The section uses a repeated arch to create a clear rhythm from the street. The visitor moves through a compressed threshold into a taller, brighter room, then back out to the plaza.
Outcome
A temporary brand room that turns a product origin into a spatial atmosphere. The pop-up is designed to be photographed and shared, but its first job is to make a familiar product feel newly specific.
A temporary room that behaves like a landscape.
